dj bobby t > friday night event < Combining a lifelong love of music with a passion for the dance floor, DJ Bobby T works to create an energy on the floor that is all his own. With elements of energetic house, inspirational vocals, and dramatic musical build-ups, his sets not only tell a story, they take the audience on a journey. For clubbers in Washington DC, DJ Bobby T is a welcome addition to a scene that craves positive energy. With his background in classical music, Bobby T looked to local DJ favorites Darryl Strickland & Michele Miruski for guidance as he realized that his love for dance music was evolving into an intense desire to take over the turntables in the DJ booth. Early on, you could find Bobby T intensely watching Darryl spin the popular Wednesday night party at WET. After showing him the basics, Darryl gave Bobby T his first gig in the summer of 2002; but opening for Darryl at WET was just the beginning. As he grew more comfortable in the booth, he was able to devote the necessary time and energy to learn the art of spinning vinyl. With the help of vinyl queen Michele Miruski, Bobby T was able to not only learn the mechanics of spinning records, but to also gain the skill and insight needed to take musical chances, and turn sound into art. His time spent working the dance floor with a combination of vinyl & CD's, along with a strong musical background, has paved the way for his future: writing and producing original tracks. When Bobby T is not behind the turntables, he is sometimes seen operating along side the DJ as a light technician. With a DJ's perspective, his talents earned him the opportunity to create a dazzling light show at the Freedom Party main event in 2003. The Freedom Party proved to be a significant event in Bobby T's young DJ career, as he made contacts that continue to inspire him today. As a regular guest DJ at clubs throughout the Washington, DC area including APEX, WET, Club FIVE (Sunday MASS rooftop deck), Club TEN & Cobalt, Bobby T has developed strong working relationships with club managers who nurture his creative goals, while his spinning gives the parties new flare. Whether the venue is an outdoor tea dance, a trendy Armani store in Georgetown, or the drama of an after-hours party, DJ Bobby T relies on and feeds from the energy of his audience to fuel the vision of his sets, taking them on a journey that is unique each time he spins. |
