> friday night event <

John Niederhauser has been involved with lighting since childhood, his childhood hobby becoming an obsession that ultimately brought him to New York City to study at the Studio and Forum of Stage Design. While there, John received his training in theatrical lighting design, which led to various theatrical lighting gigs in New York. John's next venture was to form his own company, Star Lighting, which did lighting for various special events in New York. However, John began to realize that only the nightclub atmosphere would allow him to express his creativity with lighting design fully. This desire led to his being the lighting operator at various NYC nightclubs, including Studio 54, Limelight, Tunnel, and Moonshadow.

In 1992, John moved to DC to become the resident Lighting Director / Operator at Tracks, where he remained until 1998, when he was hired by Nation. Although many have enjoyed his extraordinary lighting abilities as lighting operator for Velvet Nation, few are aware that he also designed and installed the current lighting system. John has also been involved with other events, including Metropolis, Spring to Life 1994, and Dark Dance. On an historical note, John was involved with the first Cherry Fund event, Cherry Delight (Cherry 3) where he designed as well as operated the lights for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday venues. John's most recent involvement with Cherry was as the lighting operator for the Cherry 6 Sunday night event held at Nation. John looks forward to creating a great "first impression" for those who attend the Friday night party.
