Volunteers are needed to help produce & promote events and to help with many other activities. Safe Sex Packing Kit Party
Tuesday, October 5th / 7:00-9:00 PM / Green Lantern / 1335 Green Court, NW

Help us Keep DC Safer! Join members of the HIV Working Group and The Cherry Fund on Tuesday, October 5th at Green Lantern for another Safe Sex Kit Packing Party. Volunteers will be assembling safer sex kits and enjoying great drink specials at Green Lantern from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  Have fun, volunteer, and enjoy great drink specials while supporting a great cause.

HIV/AIDS Service Organization Volunteer Fair
Thursday, October 21st / 6-9 PM / Charles Sumner School / 1201 17th Street, NW

The Cherry Fund will host the 1st Annual HIV/AIDS Service Organization Volunteer Fair at the Historic Charles Sumner School to introduce the DC Community to local HIV/AIDS Service Organizations that rely on volunteers to help them accomplish their missions. Some of these organizations may also serve as internship sites.  Representatives will be on hand to provide information about their organizations and discuss their volunteer opportunities.

Special Events Volunteers assist with event planning and implementation. Volunteers can join a planning committee or choose to volunteer for a one-time event.  Volunteers are needed to help set up, staff, and breakdown events.

ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

Sponsorship & Donor Committee - Volunteers are needed to help with donor recruitment and appreciation events.

Event Planning Committee - Volunteers are needed to help plan and execute events.

Marketing & Outreach Committee - Activities include staffing tables at community events, bars, and clubs.  Volunteers are needed to pass out literature, encourage patrons to sign up for our listserv, etc.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Development Intern

The Cherry Fund is seeking a Development Intern to support the fund’s Fundraising Plan. Interns gain excellent industry experience.


Responsibilities will include:
* Assist in the planning, implementation and management of special events
* Interns will help in the creation of fliers, posters, and other materials.
* Research, foster, and create new corporate partnerships
* Solicit item donations from private companies and corporations
* Follow up with prospective individual donors and corporate sponsors
* Interns will be required to help at The Cherry Fund’s events

Qualifications:
Interns should have excellent writing and communication skills, computer skills especially with Microsoft Word and Excel, and an interest in nonprofit work and philanthropy. Interns should be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours a week.

Interns have a rare opportunity to learn the inner workings of the non-profit world, including booking negotiations, marketing techniques, public relations and media outreach, artist relations, and customer service. In addition, interns are given the opportunity to see first hand how a world class small business functions.

As interns are going to be a part of a small team, their opinions and ideas carry weight. Interns have the very real and tangible opportunity to see their creative business ideas put into practice in the real world.
