Born in Maryland, raised in North Carolina and a DC area resident since 1996. He majored in architecture and interior design at Coastal Carolina Community College and NC State. Allen currently owns his own general contracting company; Creative Craftsman & Architectural Creations, for fifteen years. Allen began his support and volunteering efforts for The Cherry Fund in 2006. With a passion for fundraising, music, supporting the local community he has enjoyed the development of long lasting relationships along the way.
After his first year volunteering for The Cherry Fund, the board nominated him as co-chair for the following year. It became evident to Allen that his calling and desire to assist Cherry in different facets were due to personal reasons after losing friends to the devastating effects of HIV and friends currently living with HIV. He had a drive to improve the resources within the DC Metro area to assist the HIV/AIDS community. His mother’s involvement to help others in need has been his underlying inspiration to be a part of The Cherry Fund year after year. In his spare time he enjoys traveling the country with his partner, Philip Tickner of five years, entertaining friends at home or a night out on the town.
In 2011 he was nominated as the President of The Cherry Fund. His strong sense of devotion, work ethic and sense of urgency has allowed Cherry to increase and develop its yearly fund raising efforts. Cultivating and networking the organization’s relationships with its sponsors and donors has placed Cherry into an era of great development and growth as of late. His continued guidance and drive are his goals to place the non-profit organization as a foundation that the DC Metro HIV/AIDS community and organizations can come to depend on year after year. Benefiting the local beneficiaries of our community.
